Line charts - Subtypes
a. Line and line with markers
Lines chart are displayed with or without markers to indicate individual data
values, line charts are useful to
show trends over time or ordered categories particularly if there are many data
points.
The order in which they are presented is very important. If there are
many categories or the values are approximately, I consider using a line chart without markers.

Stacked line and stacked line with
markers
The Stacked line chart displayed with or without markers to indicate individual data
values, stacked line charts are
useful to show all the trend of the contribution of each value over time or
ordered categories.
If there are many categories, I used a stacked line chart without markers.
Tip
For a
better presentation of this type of data, I usually consider using a stacked area chart instead.

100% stacked line and 100% stacked
line with markers
This 100% stacked lines displayed
with or without markers to indicate individual data values, 100% of stacked line
charts are helpful for displaying trend of the percentage each value contributes
over time.
When there are many categories or the values are approximate, I use
a 100% stacked line chart without markers.

3-D line charts
The 3-D Line Charts
normally display each row or column of data as a 3-D ribbon.
The 3-D line charts have horizontal,
depth, and vertical axes that you can modify.
