Line charts - Subtypes
a. Line and line with markers
Lines chart are displayed with or without markers to indicate individual data values, line charts are useful to show trends over time or ordered categories particularly if there are many data points.
The order in which they are presented is very important. If there are many categories or the values are approximately, I consider using a line chart without markers.

·        Stacked line and stacked line with markers

The Stacked line chart displayed with or without markers to indicate individual data values, stacked line charts are useful to show all the trend of the contribution of each value over time or ordered categories.
If there are many categories, I used a stacked line chart without markers.

Tip
For a better presentation of this type of data, I usually consider using a stacked area chart instead.

·        100% stacked line and 100% stacked line with markers

This 100% stacked lines displayed with or without markers to indicate individual data values, 100% of stacked line charts are helpful for displaying  trend of the percentage each value contributes over time.

When there are many categories or the values are approximate, I use a 100% stacked line chart without markers.

·        3-D line charts
The 3-D Line Charts normally display each row or column of data as a 3-D ribbon. The 3-D line charts have horizontal, depth, and vertical axes that you can modify.
